Ireland suffered another defeat on their June tour when they lost 22-15 to Australia at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Australia's Wallabies lost last weekend to England 21-22 but hit winning form again although their scrum was still problematic.

Ireland took the lead with two penalties before Australia scored their first try by Luke Burgess in the first quarter.

Ireland fly-half Johnny Sexton took the lead again a short while later with Ireland's third penalty kick. The Wallabies however again hit back and took the lead for a half time score of 16-15.

Ireland however failed to add to their half time points tally in the second half as Australia edged away through a further two penalties.

Reds back Quade Cooper kicked two penalties and scored a try in the first half before Giteau took over the goal kicking duties and missed his first shot before the break.

Giteau retained the kicking duties in the second half and kicked two penalties sealing the result for the Wallabies.

Australia finished their June international program with a 3-1 record after beating over Fiji, Ireland and England but also losing their second test against England which drew the series.
